South East Sports Facilities Project (SESFP)
The SESFP club survey was undertaken by PMR Leisure during the period November 2006 – May 2007. Initially the survey was sent out to football clubs in Edinburgh with a follow-up survey distributed to rugby clubs at the end of December 2006. A further extension of the survey in March 2007 included a distribution to hockey clubs. The aim of the survey was to help inform the SESFP, about the issues facing pitch playing sports clubs in the city, in delivering an Action Plan for pitch development across Edinburgh. The findings of the survey led to additional work involving the mapping of pitches in Edinburgh (and club use of those pitches) contributing to the updating of the city’s pitch strategy. The work of PMR Leisure and the SESFP has also resulted in the development of a strong multi sport partnership, including the Scottish Football Association, Scottish Rugby and Scottish Hockey Union, working with City of Edinburgh Council and the SESFP is now seen as advisers to the City Council in relation to all matters relating to pitch provision and maintenance. A key part of PMR’s role with the SESFP has been to identify and develop community club locations.
