North Lanarkshire Council

Our work in North Lanarkshire included the development of its sports comprehensive programme across the three secondary schools – St Maurice's, St Margaret’s and Braidhurst Secondary - a pilot project supported by the Scottish Executive. Our role was to bring together the community management models along with the three school governing bodies and local sports groups. The process included:
- Developing North Lanarkshire’s New Opportunities Fund bid and having all North Lanarkshire’s allocation directed towards the new sports facilities at these schools.
- Encouraging matched funding from sportscotland so that all three schools had revenue funding in place to run a full curriculum and community programme with supporting staff and are part of the Ambitious School Programme.
Our work in North Lanarkshire also included working with the new combined primary school campus in Cumbernauld in achieving new outdoor sports facilities and developing new facilities capable of accommodating people with disabilities at their Outdoor Education Centre in Oban.
